In this talk, Dr. Creado discusses the devastating effects of sleep problems on mental health, brain health, emotions, and general health (immunity, inflammation, hormones, obesity, blood sugar, dementia, reproductive health, heart health and even lifespan). He will then discuss the best evidence-based strategies to improve sleep (quality, quantity and timing), and how to seek help for more serious sleep disorders.
Learning Objectives:
- Review the rationale for the necessity of establishing sleep education as a preventative strategy
- Examine the awareness of simple screening questions to detect potentially serious sleep problems
- Illustrate some evidence-based strategies to treat insomnia, thereby reducing mortality and morbidity
